“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”

NHOP recently planned a prayer vigil in memory of Charlie Kirk, which brought together Pastors, the church in Ottawa, Members of Parliament, Parliamentary staff, and the American Ambassador, Pete Hoekstra. As Canadians, we honoured the Ambassador choosing to pray for our neighbour rather than jostle them with an “elbows up” posture, which can be aggressive, unfriendly, and prideful. MP Richard Bragdon shared from Job 42:10, noting that Job prayed for his friends—who happened to be his accusers—and God restored him.
Humility is active; it prays, serves, and seeks reconciliation. Jesus’ example of washing His disciples’ feet shows that lowering oneself in service leads to true impact.
Kneeling in prayer symbolizes a humble heart, submission to God, and love toward others.
“Peacemakers (Shalom makers) who sow in peace (Shalom) reap a harvest of righteousness.”
James 3:18

Weekly Prayer Points
Pray that our Canadians would choose the posture of the bended knee over “elbows up.”
Pray for strengthened relationships between Canada and the United States, and for opportunities to honour and bless one another.
Pray for those who oppose or challenge us, asking God to bring restoration and healing as Job prayed for his friends who were also his accusers.
Pray for the humility to forgive, reconcile, and serve others even when it is difficult.
Pray for courage to speak truth in love and advance the gospel, following the example of Charlie Kirk: bold in conviction, yet committed to dialogue, prayer, and the Kingdom of God.
Pray that the Church will be both humble and impactful in society.
Pray for a spiritual harvest in Canada, the U.S., and around the world.
Pray for God to raise up laborers who sow in peace (Shalom), trusting His promise that “Those who sow in peace will reap a harvest of righteousness.”
Pray for God to reveal where pride needs to be surrendered in each of our hearts and replaced with genuine love and compassion.
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
