Just a couple of weeks ago, an anti-Semitic attack took place in Ottawa at a grocery store well known for its extensive kosher section. A Jewish woman was stabbed by a man who openly declared himself an anti-Semite. This incident deeply shook the community, especially since many of us, including friends, regularly shop there.
This was not an isolated incident. On August 1st, in Montreal, another Jewish man was attacked while simply watching his children at a playground. In response, MP Anthony Housefather wrote an open letter - a call to action against antisemitism. Shockingly, out of 169 Liberal MPs, only 31 signed, far fewer than what is needed to show strong unity against antisemitism.
What we must do:
Reject indifference. Even if you do not live near Jewish people or do not personally know many, you must not dismiss antisemitism as “not my problem.” Romans 11 reminds us that as Gentile believers, we are grafted into Israel’s root and we are nourished by the same root.
Study and understand. Read Romans 11 carefully. Paul gives two analogies - about dough and branches. This is why we pray for Israel. For a deeper foundation, you can access 12 structured classes on why and how we pray for Israel through our website:nhop.ca.
Respond relationally. When antisemitic attacks occur, our first response should be to reach out. If you have Jewish friends, call them. If not, ask God to bring Jewish connections into your life. He will. Contact your local synagogue or Jewish Federation and let them know you are praying and standing with them.
Be visible. Do not settle for “silent allyship.” Jewish communities want to see and hear our solidarity. Show up at events. Write letters. Speak out publicly. Make it clear by your actions that you stand against antisemitism.
Reach out to your Members of Parliament. Let them know your concern about the rising tide of Jew-hatred in our nation. To be fair, some Liberal MP's have explained that they were not given the chance to sign Housefather’s letter before it was released. Ask them directly if they would now be willing to add their names in support.
Shortly after our video was completed, the Conservatives issued the following statement, signed by every member of their caucus.

Weekly Prayer Points
Pray for protection over the Jewish community in Ottawa, Montreal, and across Canada, that no weapon formed against them would prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Pray for healing and comfort for those directly impacted by recent attacks, that God’s presence would bring peace and restoration (Psalm 34:18).
Pray for government leaders to take a bold stand against antisemitism, moving beyond silence or minimal action, and to act with courage and integrity (Proverbs 31:8–9).
Pray for the Church to awaken to Romans 11, recognizing its grafted identity and responsibility to stand with Israel and the Jewish people.
Pray for deeper understanding through teaching and study, that believers would grasp the biblical call to pray for Israel.
Pray for new connections between Christians and Jewish communities, that relationships of trust, friendship, and solidarity would grow.
Pray for visible witness, that Christians would not remain silent but actively show up, speak out, and demonstrate God’s love for His covenant people.
“If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.”
Romans 11: 17-21
