When government leaders act foolishly, it’s easy to become frustrated or critical. Yet Scripture calls us to a higher response.
Ecclesiastes 10:20 warns, “Do not curse the king, even in your thoughts.” Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34), reminding us that what fills our hearts eventually shapes our words.
Instead of murmuring or complaining, we’re called to take every thought captive to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to bless, not curse - even our leaders.
Daniel modeled this in prayer, confessing his nation’s sins and appealing to God’s mercy: “We do not make requests of You because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy” (Daniel 9:18).
Intercession, not accusation, is how believers partner with God to bring mercy and healing to a nation.
"Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird in the sky may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say."

Weekly Prayer Points
Pray that God, in His great mercy, would guide our leaders and nation, not because of our righteousness, but because of His compassion.
Pray that leaders would make decisions with discernment, humility, and alignment with God’s truth.
Pray that we would bless our leaders in thought, word, and deed, resisting the temptation to murmur, complain, or criticize.
Pray that every thought and intention in our hearts would be captured and aligned with Christ’s obedience.
Pray that mental strongholds, resentment, and cynicism toward authourity would come into obedience to Christ.
Pray that the church would rise up and be willing to stand in the gap, confessing sin on behalf of the nation and our leaders, appealing to God's mercy.
Pray that we as the body of Christ would cultivate hearts of blessing, humility, and unity, bringing positive influence to our culture and our leadership.
“We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your name.”
