Recent comments from Minister Marc Miller about the Bible and hate speech have sparked concern across Canada. During a committee discussion on Bill C-9, he questioned whether citing certain passages of Scripture could still be protected under Canada’s “good faith” defence for hate speech, and suggested that prosecutors might have discretion to bring charges in some cases.
This raises serious questions about religious freedom and freedom of speech. The Bible is not a book of hate; it is a message of redemption, truth, and love. Jesus said the greatest commandments are to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbour as yourself.
Moral disagreement is not the same as hatred, and Canadians should be able to read, quote, and live according to their faith without fear of legal consequences.
Pray for MP Miller and those who misunderstand the Bible, that God would open their hearts to His truth and love. Pray that Christ would dwell in their hearts through faith, that they would be rooted and grounded in love, and that they would come to know how wide, long, high, and deep is the love of Christ.
"so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

Weekly Prayer Points
Pray that Christ may dwell in the hearts of leaders and decision-makers, giving them wisdom, discernment, and a heart rooted in love.
Pray that the government would have wisdom to make decisions that protect religious freedom, justice, and moral truth in Canada.
Pray that churches across the nation would be strengthened, unified, and empowered to teach God’s Word boldly and in love.
Pray for Canadians, that they would understand the difference between moral disagreement and hatred, and that society would respect freedom of conscience.
Pray that God’s love would be experienced widely across the nation, surpassing knowledge and transforming hearts, communities, and institutions.
Pray that His power at work within the church, government, and individuals would accomplish immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
