There is an urgent need to stay engaged and informed about key national and spiritual concerns. First, we are deeply troubled by the ongoing push to expand Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) to include individuals with mental health challenges and mature minors. We encourage you to contact your Member of Parliament and express that this is not acceptable in Canada. We must act through both prayer and advocacy.

Second, it is critical that we remain steadfast in our support for Israel. As believers, we serve the God of Israel, and scripture makes it clear in Genesis 12:3 that God promises to bless those who bless Israel and to curse those who curse her. This is not just a historical promise—it remains a spiritual principle that affects nations today. In these turbulent times, Canada must not turn away from standing with Israel. Recently, Hamas—a recognized terrorist organization—sent a public “thank you” to Canada after our government threatened sanctions against Israel unless the Jewish state halts its military campaign. It is not a good sign when a terrorist group expresses gratitude for your foreign policy. For more on how to pray for Israel, visit https://www.nhop.ca/2024/01/24/why-pray-for-israel/ to access NHOP’s 12-week prayer course.

Building bridges across the nation

Excerpt from an article written by Jodi Green from the Jewish Federation of Ottawa:

What happens when hundreds of Christian leaders gather in Ottawa to listen, learn, and stand alongside their Jewish neighbours? You get a powerful show of solidarity that seeks not only to pray, but to act. On May 6 and 7, over 200 Christian allies — including 150 pastors and clergy from across Canada — came together for a two-day Israel Conference to deepen their understanding of how to support Israel and the Jewish community in Canada.

🇮🇱 Chris and Marilyn are heading to Israel from May 26 to June 7.

Please pray for us as we develop new meaningful relationships and work with Return Ministries to build curriculum for our new joint initiative, IC343.

We invite you to join us for our NHOP Zoom prayer calls—a great opportunity to connect in prayer online:

🕙 Tuesdays | 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM ET

🌙 Wednesdays | 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM ET

All are welcome!

Weekly Prayer Points

Pray for Canada to uphold life and protect the vulnerable.

Pray that the Lord would stir the hearts of our leaders to resist expanding MAiD and instead champion mental health care, support for minors, and the sanctity of life.

Pray for Members of Parliament to have wisdom, courage, and compassion.

Pray that MPs will hear clearly from constituents and be moved to act with righteousness.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.”

Proverbs 31:8

Pray for Canada to stand in blessing, not opposition, to Israel.

Pray for Canada’s foreign policy and national stance toward Israel. Pray that our government will not align with those who curse God’s covenant people.

Pray that God to expose lies, confuse the plans of the wicked, and give world leaders discernment regarding the influence of terrorist organizations.

Pray for all the people groups in the land of Israel and its surrounding nations that they would come to the saving knowledge of Christ.

Pray for the Lord to awaken His people to stand in the gap for our nation and for Israel, with boldness, humility, and faith.

“The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever.”

Psalm 33:10–11
