In Second Thessalonians 3, Paul opens with a powerful apostolic prayer: “Pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honoured.” Just as the gospel moved swiftly through Thessalonica and established a work of God in a remarkably short time, we must continue to pray that the Word of God continues to move with power and authority today in our communities. Even though we live in times of uncertainty, cultural pressure, and opposition, scripture reminds us that even though we may be chained, the Word of God cannot be chained.
The purpose of prayer is not simply to receive from God, but to see the gospel spread rapidly and be glorified so that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord covers the earth like the waters cover the sea. This starts with His glory covering our hearts. Whatever the evil or wickedness we may face, God strengthens, protects, and upholds His people as they continue to pray, preach, and shine the light of the gospel. This passage is a call to perseverance, faithfulness, and steadfastness. We must remain on the wall, refusing fear, and trusting the Lord to direct hearts into the love of God and into the perseverance of Christ.

Pray that the Word of the Lord would break through every barrier and move swiftly with power, so that it is not hindered but honoured and glorified in every place it goes.
Pray that the church would have the courage and faithfulness to speak Jesus with clarity and conviction, both in our words and in the way we live our lives.
Pray for God’s protection over us as we carry speak His Word, that He would guard us from harm, from wickedness, and from every opposing force.
Pray that our hope would be so deeply intertwined with Him that we exchange our weakness for His strength and receive revelation from Heaven that keeps us from growing weary or giving up.
