Now that the election is over, it's time to stay engaged. While we’ve long emphasized praying before elections, what we do after is just as important. Philippians 4:22 reminds us that the early Church reached even into Caesar’s household—proof that the Kingdom can impact government. Similarly, 1 Timothy calls us to pray for those in authority so we can live peaceful, godly lives and so that all may be saved. This is our continued call. I encourage you to write your MP a note of congratulations, let them know you're praying for them, and, if possible, request a meeting—alone or with others. Be proactive. Greet the household of Caesar. This is a vital part of our Kingdom assignment.

At the National House of Prayer, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know Damien Kurek. In an interview Chris conducted with him in August 2024, Damien shared that his passion for politics began at a very young age. By Grade 6, he thought he wanted to become Prime Minister. While still in high school, he wrote a letter to then-Prime Minister Stephen Harper and was invited to visit Parliament Hill—an experience that helped shape his journey.

Damien’s deep love for Canada is unmistakable. In our conversations with him, we encountered a man who not only cherishes this country but also deeply values the opportunity to serve, regardless of his humble beginnings. He expressed gratitude that he lives in a country where someone of modest means could run for office and represent his community.

One quote from our interview captures his heart as a Christian, a Canadian, and a Parliamentarian:

"I can bring my Christian faith and values to the job, guiding my decisions and caring for everyone I represent—whether they voted for me or not."

This is the man who chose to step down so that Pierre Poilievre could have a seat in Parliament. It was a selfless decision made not for personal gain, but for the benefit of his constituents and the nation. Knowing how much Damien loved his role, his decision was a true sacrifice—one rooted in servant leadership and genuine love for Canada.

As Scripture says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). While Damien didn’t lay down his life, he set aside a role he deeply values—for the good of others. That, too, is a powerful expression of love and leadership.

We love you, Damien! We will miss your booming voice in the chamber—and we’ll be praying that it returns quickly.

Weekly Prayer Points

Acknowledge that leadership comes from Him, even when outcomes are unexpected (Romans 13:1).

Pray for salvation, transformation, and spiritual awakening among those in Parliament.

Pray that the influence of the Kingdom of God would increase in Ottawa and across all provinces.

Pray for healing where communities or families have been divided by political tensions.

Pray against any corrupt influences, hidden agendas, or ungodly alliances within government.

Pray that God's light will expose darkness and uphold righteousness.

Pray that believers in government would not grow weary or compromise under pressure.

Pray for God to strengthen them in their identity and empower them to be voices of truth and grace.

Pray for God to raise up a praying Church that engages with both humility and authority.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
