This video is recorded ahead of the upcoming vote on Bill C-9, so the final outcome is not yet known. A vote has already taken place to end further discussion on the bill. Thank you to those who took the time to contact their Members of Parliament and help raise awareness about concerns surrounding this legislation, particularly its potential impact on freedom of speech and freedom of religion, freedoms that are foundational in the Canadian Charter.

Regardless of how the final vote turns out, one truth remains clear. As Jeremiah 23:29 says, “Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” The Word of the Lord is powerful. Even if there were greater restrictions placed on preaching the Word, prayer, or reading Scripture, that would not change the commitment to continue doing so. If told not to preach, we would still preach the Word. If told not to pray, we will continue to pray, like Daniel opening his windows and praying despite being told not to. The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, and it remains essential to life and faith.

We hope and pray that Canada never reaches the level of restriction seen in other parts of the world. Yet even in places like Iran, China, and Afghanistan, where there are significant limitations, the church continues to grow. Whatever happens with this vote, the encouragement remains the same. Be strong in the Lord, be bold and courageous, and remember that the Lord your God goes with you wherever you go.

Join Chris on Faytene TV for a deep conversation on Canada’s growing prayer breakfast movement.

The National Prayer Breakfast takes place first, bringing Christians together to pray for Canada and its leaders. Immediately following, the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast focuses on praying for the peace of Jerusalem. All happening March 23–25 in Ottawa.

This is a pivotal moment to stand in prayer, lift up our nation, and intercede for Israel.

Weekly Prayer Points

  • Pray for wisdom and guidance for Canada’s leaders, that Members of Parliament would make decisions that uphold freedom of speech and freedom of religion, guided by justice, discernment, and integrity.

  • Pray for the protection of religious freedoms, that the rights to preach, teach, pray, and read Scripture remain unhindered, and that God would safeguard His church in Canada.

  • Pray for courage and boldness in the church, that Christians would remain steadfast in their faith, boldly preaching, praying, and living out God’s Word, even in the face of challenges or restrictions.

  • Pray for spiritual impact and growth, that the Word of God continues to be powerful, transformative, and alive in every community, and that any challenges only strengthen faith and expand His kingdom.

  • Pray for unity and support among believers, that the church in Canada stands together in prayer, encouragement, and loving engagement with society, while relying on God’s presence and peace in all circumstances.

"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.”
