Weekly Prayer Strategy — Jun 06, 2026

Saturday, June 6, 2026

Psalm 72 has a special connection to Canada. Parts of the psalm are engraved on Parliament's Peace Tower, including the words, "He will have dominion from sea to sea," a verse that inspired Canada's historic designation as the Dominion of Canada.

Written by Solomon as a prayer for leadership, Psalm 72 describes leaders who are guided by justice and righteousness, who care for the vulnerable, defend the needy, and stand against oppression. It paints a picture of a nation where righteousness flourishes and peace abounds.

The psalm also reminds us to pray for our leaders today, asking God to give them wisdom, integrity, and compassion. Ultimately, it points us to the truth that God alone does wondrous things and that lasting transformation comes through His power at work in the lives of people and nations.

"Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things."

Psalm 72:18
