This has been an incredibly difficult week for Canada. Our hearts are with the community of Tumbler Ridge, BC, as they grieve an unimaginable tragedy. We are praying for every family affected by this senseless act of violence. No parent should ever have to bury a child, and the depth of this loss is made even more painful by the number of lives taken.
We pray that the peace which surpasses all understanding will surround Tumbler Ridge during this time of sorrow. May comfort, strength, and hope embrace each grieving family.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
This week we’re looking at Psalm 27 with the same posture we’ve been practicing all year. It’s that same “come up here” invitation from Revelation 4:1. We take our eyes off the chaos and instead fix our gaze on the Lord. David reminds us that when fear, uncertainty, and opposition surround us, our place of confidence is the secret place where we seek His face and gaze upon His beauty. When we focus on His majesty and His glory, we begin to see that He is bigger than what swirls around us. In His presence, we find strength, we find joy, and we find shalom. Our confidence comes from being anchored in Him.
As Tumbler Ridge grieves this heartbreaking tragedy, may the community feel the steady presence of God. We pray that He would be their rock when life feels like it’s falling apart, their comfort in sorrow, and their light in the darkness. We pray that the church would have the wisdom and insight to bring Jesus’ hope and presence into every situation.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2
