Back in June, Marilyn wrote about Damien Kurek giving up his seat so that Pierre Poilievre could run, including the Scripture: “Greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
This reminds us that “laying down your life” isn’t only about physical death—it’s a daily choice to surrender our own will and desires for God’s purposes. Jesus described this kind of life in Luke 9: “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Daily surrender is a life that says, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”
Romans 12 calls believers to be living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God—our “reasonable act of worship.” This isn’t extreme; it’s the normal Christian life. True spiritual power flows from a daily walk of obedience, listening to God, and staying close to His heart.
This fall, our prayer school will focus on the secret place—what it is, how it fits into everyday life, and why it is vital for spiritual growth. Even now, the call is the same: be a living sacrifice, take up your cross daily, and love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. In surrender, we find true life.
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Romans 12:1
