There is a powerful invitation found in Isaiah 61 to live free. It is the same freedom Jesus declared when He said He came to proclaim good news to the poor and liberty to the captives. That phrase, "the year of the Lord’s favor," points back to the Year of Jubilee in Leviticus 25, a time when debts were cancelled, land was restored, and those in bondage were released. It was all about a fresh start.

Jesus fulfilled that promise and invites His followers to live in that same spirit today. That is why, in the Lord’s Prayer, we ask, "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." Spiritual debt such as offence, bitterness, and unforgiveness can pile up. But we are not meant to carry it. Matthew chapter 6 reminds us that if we do not forgive others, we block the flow of forgiveness in our own lives.

We are called to live with a clean slate. We must release others from what we feel they owe us, forgive without delay, and remain free in heart and spirit. The Jubilee life is not a one time event but a daily posture of grace and surrender. Jesus has opened the way. Let us choose to walk in it each day.

"For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,"

New Ballot Format in Battle River-Crowfoot. Here’s What to Expect

For our friends in the riding of Battle River-Crowfoot: Elections Canada is introducing an adapted ballot for this election due to the unusually large number of candidates (209). If you’re voting at an advance poll or on election day, your ballot will look quite different; it won’t have the usual list of names with circles to mark. Instead, there will be a blank space where you’ll need to write the name of your preferred candidate. You can include their party name alongside their name, but writing only the party name like “Liberal” or “Conservative”won’t count. The good news is, your vote will still be valid even if the spelling isn’t perfect, as long as it’s clear who you meant. You may want to practice the candidate’s name before you vote, just to be safe.

Weekly Prayer Points

• Pray for God to reveal areas of spiritual debt in our lives - offence, bitterness, unforgiveness, and give us the grace to release them.

• Pray for the strength to forgive others quickly and completely, following Jesus’ example and teaching in the Lord’s Prayer.

• Pray for God to help us maintain a daily posture of living with a clean slate, free from the burdens of past hurts and debts.

• Pray that the spirit of Jubilee, a fresh start and restoration, would become a reality in our hearts and communities.

• Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us in walking daily in the freedom Jesus has made possible.

• Pray that forgiveness would flow freely through our lives, opening the way for God’s forgiveness and blessing to flow in return.
