‭‭Genesis‬ ‭12‬:‭3‬ says “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Substituting the Hebrew words for bless and curse, the verse would read like this.

“I will barak those who barak you, and whoever qalal you I will arar;

and all peoples on earth will be baraked through you."

The word "Barak" means "to bless," signifying the bestowing of divine favor, prosperity, and empowerment. Its root, "berekh," meaning "knee," evokes the image of a father kneeling to connect with and bless his child.

"Qalal" means to despise, hate, or exhibit aggression, encompassing actions like persecuting, maintaining distance, or standing in opposition. It conveys the notion of treating someone or something with indifference, belittling, or dishonoring, often implying a lack of respect or value.

The Hebrew word "arar" means "to curse" or "to invoke a curse," signifying the act of pronouncing a negative judgment or condemnation upon someone or something, often associated with the intent to bring misfortune or harm; it can also mean a bitter curse, denouncement, detestation, or the withholding of blessings.

When it comes to God’s heart for Israel, there is no middle ground. Indifference toward Israel equates to cursing (qalal) it, which invites a curse (arar) that ultimately robs us of the blessings that are intended to be ours.

It is truly tragic to allow indifference toward Israel to cause us to forfeit the blessings that are meant for us; failing to recognize the importance of our connection with Israel not only robs us of His blessings but also diminishes our understanding of God's plan. However, standing against antisemitism is not just the right thing to do for our own sake; it is a moral imperative that reflects God's heart and His deep love for Israel. By actively opposing hatred and prejudice, we align ourselves with God's desires for justice, compassion, and unity, affirming our commitment to love and support the apple of His eye. This stands as a testament to our faith and serves as a powerful reminder of our responsibility to uphold righteousness in a world that often seeks to divide.

Apostolic Prayer

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."

Ephesians 6:18-20

Prayer Points

As we near the one-year mark of the attack on Israel, let's take a moment to remember the global Jewish diaspora and the people of Israel.

  • Pray for the protection of Jewish communities worldwide, as they may face potential terrorist threats.

  • Pray for the memorial events taking place in our cities, uniting Christians and Jews, and for peace and safety during these gatherings.

  • Pray for the ongoing strengthening of these relationships, that Christians may offer comfort and support to their Jewish friends amid the rising tide of antisemitism.

"Comfort, comfort my people, says your God."

Isaiah 40:1

The government has been unable to present any of its own business before the House of Commons for a full week.

House Speaker Greg Fergus ruled last Thursday that the government(Liberals) "clearly did not fully comply" with an order to provide documents related to a foundation that distributed hundreds of millions in federal funds for green technology projects. Parliament will remain paralyzed until the documents are handed over. Many speculate this could lead to a successful non-confidence vote by the Conservatives, given the time restriction set by the Bloc, or that the Liberals might prorogue Parliament to regroup before an election. Proroguing would kill all bills currently under debate, including Bill C-63.

  • Pray regarding the redacted documents that all things hidden will come into the light. Canadians deserve to know the complete truth about our government's activities.

"Every hidden thing will be revealed, and every secret will be made known."

Matthew 10:26

Continue to pray regarding the Foreign Interference inquiry.

A group of Global Affairs Canada representatives will testify as the inquiry examines methods to detect and counter foreign interference. Next week, officials from the Privy Council Office, Canadian Heritage, and Public Safety Canada will also testify. The hearings will focus on key agency practices and the experiences of diaspora communities.

  • Pray for Canada's strengthened democracy

  • Pray for increased transparency and public awareness

  • Pray for wise recommendations to mitigate future threats of foreign interference

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

James 1:5

British Columbia, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan Elections

  • Pray for the election of leaders who not only have a deep love and compassion for the people they represent but are also committed to serving the best interests of the entire community.

  • Pray that they would demonstrate integrity, humility, and a willingness to work tirelessly for the good of everyone, including those who may not have supported them at the polls.

  • Pray that they would stand firmly for truth and justice, upholding values that honour God. Pray for Members that are pro-family and support policies that align with God's heart for Israel. Pray for leaders who would lead in a way that promotes righteousness and strengthens the moral fabric of society.

"Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness. May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice."

Psalm 72:1-2
