Prayer Stream — May 25, 2024

Saturday, May 25, 2024

This week's video highlights a petition drafted by former Member of Parliament for Port Moody—Coquitlam, Anmore & Belcarra, Nelly Shin. Petition e-4985 addresses the growing tide of antisemitism in our nation. It calls for urgent action from our government leaders as delayed action conveys societal acceptance of antisemitism, enables ongoing victimization of Jewish Canadians, empowers terrorists and extremists, and can lead to increased violence, raising Canada's national terrorism threat level. An excerpt from an article on Nelly's website states, "The current crisis is no longer just about the Israel-Hamas War or differing ideologies about Israel, Palestine and statehood. Conflicts in the Middle East have been imported to Canadian soil and it’s bringing harm and destabilization to our society." To read the full article, click here.

Apostolic Prayer

"I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Corinthians 1:4-8

Prayer Points

With the rise in antisemitism in Canada, we need to pray for those who hate and are indifferent to the Jewish people.

  • Pray for God's mercy. Pray that God would transform their hearts and that they would come to the knowledge of the truth. The only cure for antisemitism is the perfect love of Jesus.

Thank God for leaders like Nelly Shin who took the time and effort to draft the petition.

  • Pray for the influencers and leaders in our society to speak the truth without bias or misinformation.

  • Pray that Canada becomes a fore runner globally to stand up against antisemitism.

  • We give thanks to God for the politicians and leaders who are standing for truth and pushing back against the trend of hating Jews. Pray that they would have courage to have their voices heard.

  • Pray for the church to be able to respond with caring hearts and acts of kindness for those who are being affected by antisemitism.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."

Psalm 121
