Chris discussed MAiD and the opioid crisis in the video, and we wanted to highlight a few key points.
Canada's MAiD laws have faced criticism for making assisted death more accessible than addressing the underlying causes of suffering. Here are some key takeaways from Health Canada.
In 2019, Canada became the first to approve Injectable Opioid Agonist Therapy (iOAT) for opioid use disorder. As the charts illustrate, opioid-related deaths increased from 3,722 in 2019 to 6,396 in 2020, surpassing 8,000 in 2023. This is not just a challenge - it is a crisis!

Prayer Points
Federal Election
A federal election may be called as early as March 10, 2025, and it will be pivotal for Canada's future. We must reject the culture of death, attacks on religious freedom, and threats to fundamental liberties - including our stance on Israel. The church must be engaged, informed, and discerning, not swayed by slogans or hidden agendas. Canada must return to a merit-based society, free from DEI and other harmful policies. As campaign platforms emerge, read them carefully - many of the disastrous policies from previous Parliaments, including MAiD, Bill C-4, and Bill C-16 were clearly outlined before becoming law. Now is the time for the church to rise in wisdom and stand for righteousness.
Pray that the church would be informed, engaged, and discerning—taking this election season seriously.
Pray that believers would be as wise as serpents and gentle as doves, walking in meekness yet prepared to wield the sword of truth when necessary.
Pray for God’s favour over righteous candidates who are stepping forward to lead in their constituencies.
Pray that Canada would reject destructive policies and return to a foundation of truth, justice, and freedom.
Pray that Canadians would see through polished campaign ads and rhetoric that sounds appealing but lacks substance.
"For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones."
Proverbs 2:6-8
