Prayer Stream — Feb 22, 2025

Saturday, February 22, 2025

Jesus commanded us to love our neighbours as ourselves. Yet, in today’s world, it is so easy to take offense. Whether in politics, personal relationships, or national affairs, we must resist the trap of offense and instead be quick to forgive and extend mercy.

Psalm 24 reminds us: Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Those with clean hands and pure hearts. Keeping our hands clean and our hearts pure is essential in these times.

Last weekend, many at a Montreal hockey game booed the singing of the U.S. national anthem. Emotions are running high as Canadians react to statements from Donald Trump about tariffs and even the idea of annexing Canada. But rather than being swept up in anger, we should ask: What is God doing in this moment?

Just as Justin Trudeau has been a gift to provoke us to pray, Donald Trump is stirring Canada to take a hard look at our affairs. Conversations about protecting our northern borders and shifting pipeline routes from West to East are now at the forefront—important discussions that may not have happened otherwise.

When a neighbor tells you to fix your fence, it’s worth listening. May we be a nation that seeks wisdom, responds with humility, and above all, keeps our hearts pure before God.

Remember, every day is the national day of prayer!

"Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart,"

Psalm 24:3-4a
