Prayer Stream — Aug 03, 2024

Saturday, August 3, 2024

In this week's video, Chris discusses the importance of reading the Bible daily. To stay on track, consider using a one-year Bible or a Bible app. Daily reading helps us know the Word, and knowing the Word equips us to pray the Word.

This journey of encountering and contemplating God begins with His Word. Through the Word, the Holy Spirit reveals God's heart to us. When we pray the Word, we partner with Him. However, prayer requires more than just words; we must act on the guidance He provides during prayer. Our prayer is not complete until, like Jesus, we both speak His words and follow His actions.

"For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak."

John 12:49

"So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise."

John 5:19

Romans 15:13

Prayer Points

Pray for Israel, the Middle East and Jewish people globally

This week, on July 30th, Israel targeted and killed Fuad Shukr, an advisor to the secretary general of Hezbollah, in retaliation for the past 10 months of rocket attacks into Israel, including one on July 27th that killed 12 children. Within hours, they also killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh while he was in Tehran for the inauguration of Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian.

The IDF is now on high alert as both Hezbollah and Iran are expected to retaliate. The bombing in Tehran that killed Haniyeh reveals a weakness in Iran's defenses, making a response likely. However, the nature and location of this response remain uncertain. It might respond as it did in April, launching a direct missile and drone assault against Israel, or it could attempt to attack Israeli or Jewish targets overseas, a tactic it has employed in the past.

  • Pray that this war does not escalate as other Middle East nations like Turkey and Qatar have threatened Israel.

  • Pray for safety for Israeli civilians. (12 Druze children killed in Golan Heights last week)

  • Pray for the Jewish diaspora globally. 2 men in Toronto were arrested as their plans for violent, terrorist attacks were uncovered. Pray for law enforcement that they are able to continue to thwart plans of terrorism.

  • Pray for bridges to be built between the Christian and Jewish communities.

"Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them."

Romans 11:13-14
