Ottawa, The City of Prayer

"When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. The priests could not enter the temple of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled it.

When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, "He is good; his love endures forever."

2 Chronicles 7:1-3

During the dedication of the newly built temple, Solomon prayed and fire came down form heaven and consumed the sacrifice. The priests could not enter because His glory filled the temple. When the Israelites saw the glory of God coming down to the temple they had to kneel on the pavement with their faces to the ground and worship Him.

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Our posture is to want to see His glory fill our lives. Our propensity is to look for His fire to fall in our churches. Our mindset is to see His glory fill our cities. We want to be that living sacrifice in Romans 12 where we crawl upon the altar to be set ablaze in order to generate that Holy fire in our churches and our cities.

"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea."

Habakkuk 2:14

As we come into Holy Week, let's raise up the banner of Jesus in every town and city across this land. Let us dare to think big like the Father and dream His outrageous dreams for our churches and our cities. We, at NHOP, are praying and believing together with other prayer ministries, to see Ottawa, the city of prayer, especially on Parliament Hill. Let's lift up our cities across Canada believing for cities of prayer across our nation.

  • Pray that God would give us strategy on how we can make our cities into cities of prayer.

  • Pray that churches and ministries would be able to yield to one another, bringing down their own banners and instead, in unity, lifting the banner of Jesus over their cities.

  • Pray that the Word of the Lord would run swiftly during the Easter Season while the gospel message is being preached.
