Happy Easter! — Apr 04, 2026

Saturday, April 4, 2026

Are you discouraged that Bill C-9 passed in the House of Commons? To many Christians, C-9 feels like a threat. If it is a threat, take heart: scripture gives us plenty of examples of how God works when His people are under threat (and in these examples, His people faced much worse situations than this).

In 2 Kings 18-19, the Assyrians threatened to destroy Jerusalem and the Jewish people. Hezekiah presented their threat before the Lord, and God answered. In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were threatened with the fiery furnace if they refused to worship the statue. They stood their ground, put their lives in the Lord’s hands, and the Lord answered. In Acts 4, Peter and John were threatened to stop preaching in Jesus’ name. They asked God to fill them with boldness, and He answered.

This weekend we celebrate the fact that not even death can defeat Jesus. We have no need to fear man. Be filled with hope and courage as you remember and celebrate the resurrection this weekend. And follow in the footsteps of Peter, John, and Paul: honour and bless our leaders, while continuing to stand in agreement with the inspired word of the God who is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness.

NHOP Prayer Meetings

Weekly Prayer Points

  • Pray and give thanks to God for His sovereignty, faithfulness, and unchanging Word, celebrating the victory of Jesus over death and His resurrection power.

  • Pray for spiritual discernment to respond in love and truth, without fear or rebellion, and for God to reveal opportunities to share His Word in creative and impactful ways.

  • Pray for God to move powerfully through His people, performing signs, wonders, and miracles in His name.

  • Pray for unity and strength in the Body of Christ, that believers would stand together, encouraging one another to remain steadfast, and that challenges would draw the Church closer in prayer, love, and bold action.

  • Pray for joy in the Lord to be our strength, declaring confidence that He is alive, reigning, and coming again, and that we will continue to serve Him faithfully.

  • Pray this Easter that hearts would be renewed with hope and exaltation for the resurrection of Jesus, that His victory over death would empower bold faith, deep joy, reawakened commitment to His Word and mission, and that many would be awakened to the truth of Christ and brought into the fullness of salvation in Him.

"I pray that you will know how great His power is for those who have put their trust in Him. It is the same power that raised Christ from the dead. This same power put Christ at God’s right side in heaven.”
