hi everybody it's chris byberg the director of the national house of prayer in ottawa today we are experiencing blizzard-like conditions and this reminds me of though our skin sins me as scarlet they are white as snow when i see all this snow and it's a lot of it's falling right now when i see all this snow i think of revival i think of of the lord coming with power and salvation breaking out across our land when i see all this snow coming and i see it how it just washes away so wash me in the blood of the lamb and i'll be whiter than snow but that's not what i want to talk about today i want to talk to you today about john 15 abiding abiding in him and

and our prayer life so let's let me just read this to you from john 15 i am the true vine and my father is the gardener he cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit while every branch that does bear fruit he trims clean so that it can be even more fruitful when i was a young man i i really like gardening i still do it so it's like a nice hobby i really love it i can't wait for the spring to come i've already started to plan um where i'm planting where and when and and expanding what i did last year so i i can't wait for the spring but when i first started gardening i uh i did started with some tomatoes and i had the nicest looking plants they grew

large they grew full they were so green and lush and i was really proud of them except they had a problem and every little flowers i didn't have any tomatoes growing on them but i had a lot of foliage and my grandmother came over and she says well this is what you're doing you have to prune these you have to take off the suckers isn't that interesting how many things in our lives that are sucking our fruitfulness way so i had so she showed me how to do it and i took it down and brought it down and got rid of all the suckers and all the the non-essential leaves and you know it wasn't as pretty as it used to look before it was a really nice pretty plant and this after

we were done it looked kind of bare but in a while it started we started to see little buds little flowers little blossoms come along and with continued care and pruning continued care and pruning those plants produced lots of fruit now they weren't as pretty as they were in the beginning but they produced a lot of fruit god is after fruit he's not after so much plumage or foliage but he's after us he's after us to be fruitful so this is what i learned earlier that that when i submit myself to the lord and i say lord what parts of my life need to be how much plumage do i actually need as compared to how much fruit lord i want to be fruitful for you and so

you know i want to have the fruit of the spirit evident in my life i want to have from galatians 5 the fruit of the spirit love joy peace patience faithfulness etc i want to have that evident and i want that word richly dwelling in me i want it to dwell in me so richly that not only that it just doesn't stay there but it overflows that that that rich word getting in the words reading the word meditating on the word because it's the word that changes us it's the washing of the water of the word that keeps us clean and so it is so important for us to be in the word so let's see let me show you what else what happens so if we allow the lord to prune us and we allow him that word to

dwell in us richly watch what happens we find it here at uh at verse 7. this is to my thus if you remain in me and my words remain in you ask whatever you wish and it'll be given to you so if we submit ourselves to god we remain in him and let that word richly dwell within us we can ask anything and he'll give it to us we can ask anything and he'll give it to us it's amazing how you're asking will change when the word is dwelling with you richly it's amazing what you will be seeking when you become more fruitful love joy peace patience self-control all those things how you're asking changes because in your asking you're going to be yielding and saying lord lord how do you want me to pray

and you'll you will start to pray from out of the word you'll start to pray that that word that is dwelling within you will start to become part of your prayer life and as a part of the prayer life things will change and we start to partner with god we start to partner with his plans we're like part of the family business agreeing with the plans and purposes of god so i want to encourage you to dwell in the word let it dwell richly in there get in the word every day feed yourself to the point that it overflows so let's pray father we thank you for your mercy your loving kindness your tender mercy lord that you love us so much that you desire to prune us you desire to bruin us and make us

fruitful lord that you're not just after foliage and plumage but god your ass after fruit in our lives and we're thankful lord that you desire that so we say lord have your way in us i think of that old song have your way i'm the you were the potter i am the clay mold me and make me after your will so father mold us make us make us to look more like jesus in jesus name i pray amen thank you everybody i'm chris beiber the director of the national house of prayer we'll see you next time bye for now you
