Our friends at ARPA have prepared an excellent information packet to help the Church in Canada engage with elected officials regarding MAiD and Bill C-218. We fully endorse their recommendations for how to approach your Member of Parliament and deeply appreciate the thoughtful work they have done to create this resource.

We encourage you to download the PDF, review it carefully, and take the suggested action. Please also share it with your pastor and others in your local church.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer once warned, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

According to a recent academic study, if MAiD advances as currently proposed, *16.69 million Canadians could die by assisted death between 2027 and 2047. This staggering projection underscores the urgency of our response. We have the opportunity and the responsibility to use our voices to help save lives in Canada.

If God has called us to be watchmen for our nation, then we must speak up. As the Lord said in Ezekiel 3:17–21, if we fail to warn, we will not be held guiltless.

If you have any questions about how to take action, please reach out to us at info@nhop.ca. We would be glad to guide you. Our desire is simply to see as many believing Christians as possible engage on this vital issue.

Most importantly, please pray:

  • for a change of heart among MPs who have supported MAiD.

  • that the Church in Canada would awaken, unite, and take a bold stand for life. And that that we would be moved by compassion to walk with those who are suffering, offering our presence, hope, and love.

  • for pastors and church leaders to speak clearly, courageously, and compassionately about the value of life from the pulpit.

  • that believers would overcome fear and apathy, stepping forward to engage with their MPs and communities.

  • for medical professionals who are resisting pressure to participate in MAiD, that they would be strengthened, protected, and find community support.

  • that Christian legal advocates and policy leaders would have divine wisdom and strategy to influence legislation.

  • for young Canadians to be awakened to the sanctity of life and to become courageous defenders of the vulnerable.

  • for revival in Canada, that hearts would turn back to God, and that life, not death, would once again be cherished as His gift.

  • for those struggling with despair, chronic illness, or isolation, that they would encounter the comfort, healing, and hope of Jesus.
