hi everybody it's chris byberg the director of the national house of prayer in ottawa we're here today to update you on some of the events that we've been seeing down at the truckers convoy freedom convoy anyway um we were down just yesterday that was a wednesday and again there's just an awesome sense of peace and i just want to just bring some clarity that you know many are many we have heard in certain places in the media that this is an anti-vaxxer anti-mask uh demonstration but actually it's an anti-mandate the truckers are are here to oppose the mandates on cross-border travel so that's why they're here and they're looking for an audience with the prime minister to discuss
um it has been a real interesting time there are many things that you're not hearing in the media like we've heard about the um the group of individuals going into the food bank and and then into a mission and rather demanding food we've heard about uh people um urinating on the uh on the tomb of the unknown soldier on the cenotaph those are really unfortunate and anyway they're they're just not the wisest and brightest things to do you know we we understand that especially with a huge a large influx of people there will be some bad actors and um and thankfully the police are doing a really good job continue to pray for the police they are doing a stellar job here very very compassionate
very peaceful and there are numerous forces that are joining with them uh services rather there are the opp there are toronto p uh police services all from across the province i've been here to to assist in this situation so let's get pray for them and we're grateful for them so i one thing that i've i found and speaking we thought that we needed to come down and just talk and meet and pray with them with the truckers and the protesters and like i said that atmosphere is very very positive it's very peaceful and it's very joyous you actually walk down the street and you look people in the eye it's like you're in a small town i lived in a small town so i know what it's like
so anyway it's uh that is really really exciting what what's happening there um you know they are in uh in endeavoring to remain compliant on certain issues like horn blowing um the truckers say yes they're gonna to adhere to those things they said you know after i think it's eight o'clock that they're going to stop blowing their horns and even those that are in the residential areas um because there's a bit of an overlap in areas that there is residential that they are endeavoring to be compliant uh that's what i saw when i was there walking through residential to get down to two queens rather to uh parliament hill so they were very compliant once you got into the central business district
district that area where all the the the skyscrapers for office towers it's a little bit more noisy i agree and on last saturday very noisy all across so we'll see what's happening there continue to pray that peace would would reign over the place and um yeah that's just really really important what i wanted to share though oh in terms of food there's lots of food down there we we saw in every cluster of um of trucks there appears to be a a bit of a place where they distribute food but they're not just distributing just to the truckers they're distributing to to everybody whosoever will it can partake of this food which is which is awesome i think that's that's really cool and what
is left over goes to the food bank so you know these are stories you're not hearing in the media but this is what's taking place and in terms of garbage there are signs everywhere you'll see them and we're going to post them in this video you know to be respectful to pick up your garbage they are garbage can garbage bags available everywhere and so that you can pick one up and so if you see a mess pick up the mess and that's just i just love that attitude that that i met some interesting young people that are distributing food uh to to on wellington street you'll see photos of them they're just young just to serve you know many of these people aren't believers and they're there anyway and i
just so appreciate and love that they are there we got a chance to talk to them there's a lot of preaching of the word that is that is happening here i spoke to um yesterday uh i am second a group from i am second was right in front of the gates going up to the uh to the flame and they were preached and they were praying for miracles and great things were happening so that's something that you're not hearing in the media one of the things that i found that was the most intriguing happened yesterday and i came up upon a group of young men marilyn and i and and our friends came up to this group of young men and i asked them hey where are you from they were from montreal
and they had a poll with flags but the flags were unfurled they were rolled up and this something interesting happened to them so we started talking about them and how are they doing i i welcomed them i said i'm happy you're here so grateful that you're here welcome to our city and just wanted to welcome them and they said they started to almost repent they said we came with a particular idea and when we arrived here we found it to be very peaceful and joyful and we had to furl up or roll up our flags because their flags said f trudeau and they said that was would be the wrong message for us to do that can you imagine that that these young men we can encounter
let me tell you about the peace and joy aspects it sounds familiar right peace and joy two-thirds of the kingdom of god is peace and joy and that's what they're experiencing actually i actually think there's righteousness peace and joy being poured out all over this event so um righteousness peace and joy and there and these young men who came for a fight expecting to fight received hugs instead and so we were able to talk to them and they were repentant you could see and that's what repentance is right it's turning around that's what repentance means it's like they rolled up their flags and said we're not going to do this we're not going to dishonor and they actually said and this is what i
found so so um fun they actually thanked the prime minister they said we're thankful for prime minister trudeau for his stand on this because it caused this whole nation to come together he says i never believed that i would be so joyous being a quebecois a french man and here speaking with you in english and loving you and appreciating of you and that he could see that god that he didn't say god but he could see that this love and peace were molding us together in love and peace and that is phenomenal but we want to be those shock absorbers but we want to be boots on the ground we want to be able to go and listen to the stories and then pray i met with one trucker and
i usually don't announce myself as a pastor or as the director of national house of prayer because people get weird and they act weird when they hear that they don't know how to act because that's just so counter culture except for christians but people that are unchurched they they don't know what to do with this but i really felt a boldness to announce while i was down here that i was director of national house of prayer and i did that with one trucker and he says to me you know i pray i talk to god and i announced that we were there to pray for them and we were received numerous times it wasn't just once or twice but with the people that we talked to we came saying we're here to pray
and we were received with arms open wide and so anyway that's what's going on the things that you're not hearing in the media um these are the things how what was the scripture saying how lovely are the feet of those who bring good news so thank you everyone thank you for listening i'm chris byberg the director of the national house of prayer bye for now you
