hi everybody it's chris and marilyn byberg here directors of the national house of prayer in ottawa happy new year to you all so we're into a new year new season last year was quite an interesting year for us it was our first year as directors of the national house of prayer we found it to be a challenge we found it to be a joy lots of wonderful things happened but best of all we met so many awesome people a lot of great answers to prayer occurred as well so we're really excited about this new year we're really excited about what god is going to bring so today i want to talk to you about isaiah 40 verse 31. this is a well-known passage many of us know it they that wait on the lord

will renew their strength they will mount up with wings as eagles they will run and not be weary they will walk and not faint they can run and not faint i really love this part i love the weight part the waiting part because if you're looking through different versions and translations of the bible there are some slight nuances those that there are some that say those who hope in the lord those who trust in the lord those who wait on the lord and those who wait for the lord they're all slightly little different nuances but my favorite version actually comes from the literal standard version and it says those expecting yahweh i love that those expecting yahweh that expectancy

you know expectancy is not passive many times we think on waiting the lord and it's like waiting on a bus or waiting for a bus and i've actually heard some friends say well this waiting on the lord it's like being a waiter and you're waiting on the lords like serving tables and waiting tables and i get that too but it's this thing of expectancy the non-a passive approach this engaged approach of expectation that's so exciting to me now it was a hard year it's been a hard couple of years now can you believe that we're actually approaching our third year of covid i was in the constituency office when covent broke out and you know at that point i thought we were

going to be about a month no more maybe two and here we are nearly three years later for many it's been very very tiring i think of our frontline workers our nurses our doctors in hospitals how fatigued and tired they are without any really to rest and and even now with many getting sick and and staff shortages it's it's um quite concerning so my heart goes out for them and we need to continue to pray for them and we will and as far as restructur restrictions goes as far as us being able to see our loved ones um for us it was uh for my mom it was almost two years since she saw my my our grandkids my kids um her grandchildren um because of restrictions and wanting to

be safe and distant it's been really hard it's been hard for many families to get together even because of restrictions of of being able to get on an airplane and those things so it's been hard and we get that um i also think about many businesses that were lost or that are in i spoke recently with a business owner who says his head is just about water he's not even drawing his salary but he's doing everything he can to keep his business afloat so our hearts and go out to him and so we need to continue to pray for our businesses and that they will be there and that they will flourish and they will bounce back but i want to encourage you in this season to wait on hope

and to be expecting the lord to come that he come towards you to come in greater capacity i love that word hope i want to be full of hope because in first corinthians 13 it says love hopes all things and because my because my hope is because i have an expectation that the lord is coming towards me that he's coming in greater capacity does this mean that all my boxes and all my goals are going to be fulfilled for i don't know i don't know what it's going to do but i know that god is doing amazing things in the nation he's doing amazing things in little places he's doing big things in little places in the nation and this is what's amazing so i want to encourage you

to hope in the lord to wait for the lord to wait on the lord to trust in the lord and expect the lord to come towards you and in doing that that will renew your strength father we thank you for the hope that you are to us we thank you that as we draw near to you you draw near to us we wait in hope and expectation for your presence and the joy that it brings we will mount up with wings like eagles lord take us higher so we can see give us vision for 2022 give us strength to run and endurance to complete all that you have for us in jesus name amen well thank you everyone it's chris and marilyn barber directors of the national house of prayer we'll see you next time
