Can God Transform Canada Again?

Psalm 72 offers a prayer template for Canada’s leaders: justice, righteousness, care for the vulnerable, and courage to confront oppression. Reflecting on Canada’s biblical roots and the Peace Tower inscription, this message calls believers to intercede for national transformation from sea to sea.

Psalm 72 [music] is a very significant scripture verse for us in Canada. In fact, there are portions of it that are written on the Peace Tower. And we know this part. We know the he will have dominion from sea to sea to the rivers to the ends of the earth. And we know there is actually this portion here it says endow the king with justice, oh God, the royal son with righteousness. That's on the Peace Tower. It is a great great I think we are so honored that that is there. Unfortunately, we don't get to see it for a while till they're finished renovating, but it will be there they tell us when we get back. Which is good. But these are significant significant portions of scripture. Mr.

Tilley thought it was important that we called the Dominion of Canada the Dominion because it comes out of this particular verse. He will have dominion from sea to sea. And so it was wonderful that that this man that became born again, full of the spirit of the Lord, really was engaged with his local church. If you read his history, it's wonderful where he came from out of darkness into his marvelous light and he was able to bring a lay a foundation in Canada that was very very significant. And we can still stand on that foundation today. He will have dominion from sea to sea. This particular prayer, this is actually a psalm was written by Solomon. And Solomon wrote this kind of for

himself as a template of what good leadership should look like. And this is what he's saying, God, this is what I want for me as the king and this is what I want to use as a ruler over my land and this is what we need to be praying over our lands. I'm just going to read a little bit of this so you get a grasp of this on how we can use this template for our leaders. Listen to this. Endow the king, endow the prime minister with your justice, oh God. Isn't that entire Lord, would you wrap our Prime Minister in justice? That he would know the difference between injustice and justice. That he would know what is righteous and what isn't righteous. This is the the royal son with your righteousness.

He will judge your people in righteousness. Your afflicted ones with justice. The mountains will bring prosperity to the people. The hill the fruit of righteousness. And that reminds me of James chapter 3. That those that sow in peace, in the God kind of peace, in the fullness of God peace. They will reap a harvest of righteousness. That's what it reminds me of there. He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy. He will crush crush the oppressor. And this is our prayer for our members. That they would be these kind of people. That they would be have a heart for the widows and the orphans. That they would be caring for the oppressed, for the needy, for the

children that are in need. And it'd be bigger than the lip service. But it would have to be be real need. And that even speaks to us as leaders. Right? It's important that we not just pass the buck and say, "Well, it's the government's problem to take care of that." No, but we are in this, too. Those pastors, leaders, those heads of households, these are in our hearts because this is what righteousness looks like. Let me continue on. He will endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon through all generations. He will be like rain falling on the mown field, like showers watering in the earth. In the days the righteousness will flourish. Prosper prosperity will abound till the

moon is no more. And then it goes to here. And he will have dominion from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth. The deserted tribes will bow before him, and his enemies will lick the dust. The kings of Tarshish and the distant shores will bring tribute to him. And it goes on and on. And then it gets to the end, which I really, really love. And it says this, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who only does wondrous things." And so, how is that connected? Because when you're praying at the beginning of the birth, and you substitute the king with Mr. Carney, you can say this, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who only does wondrous things." It's only the Lord

that can change the heart of our leaders. And so, Lord, we pray. And I'm going to pray right now. Father, we pray for our leaders, for our members of Parliament, for our Prime Minister, for our cabinet ministers. And we say, "Lord, do wondrous things." In your mighty name we pray. Amen.
