Chris and Marilyn reflect on Canada Day, American friendship, and the Christian call to humility. Rather than standing in pride, believers are invited to bow before God in prayer for neighbours, nations, and leaders, asking for wisdom, humility, and cooperation.

Hey everybody, Chris and Marilyn here. Happy 4th of July. We're here at the American Ambassador's residence here in Ottawa. Peak Hoekstra. Hey, we had a great celebration today. Thousands of people here, great food, great everything else, but great friendship. Celebrating great friendship. And we're here today celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. And it's been so good to be here. So Marilyn, you have some thoughts on this. >> Well, on Canada Day, Minister Marc Miller had said that we as Canadians are not bending our knees for anyone. Now, I know in this culture it means that we're, you know, we have pride in who we are and we're
independent and we're strong. And and the in the culture it it's it's it's a good thing to say that we're not kneeling for anyone. But as Christians, we bow our knee to the Lord God on high and we bow our knee in prayer for our friends. So we bow our knee to pray for our neighbors. Jesus said that we should love our neighbors as ourselves. >> Not only did he say that, but he say that, but he put it right next up to loving the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, the Shema essentially. And then he says the next greatest gift is to love your neighbor as yourself. So continue to pray for the Americans. Continue to pray for our neighbors. Continue to pray
for your neighbors. Neighbors on your street, the neighbors wherever and and you know, Jesus says that in one of the parables of the Good Samaritan they ask, "Who is my neighbor?" Read that parable, you'll see exactly who your neighbor neighbor is. So anyway, I'm Chris. >> to pray for our government leaders. Continue to pray for Marc Miller, Marc Carney and and and Pierre Poilievre. Continue to pray for them that they would receive wisdom from heaven. That it's it's not about having pride that we don't kneel to anyone. to anyone. But it's about working together. It's about a working relationship to to do what is good for all Canadians and Americans. >> So, remember this.
God resists the proud and embraces the humble. So, I want to be irresistible. Be humble. I'm Chris Byler. This is Marilyn. We're the directors of the National House of Prayer and we will see you next time. All right, bye-bye.
