hi everybody it's chris byberg the director of the national house of prayer from ottawa well can you believe we're already to the first sunday of advent well that was just yesterday i can't believe how quickly this year has gone and um but advent is my favorite time of the year it really is i love this season one of me reigned me that one of the main reasons why i love this season i find it so easy to share jesus in this season it's so easy there's an opening there's a softness to share the love of god in this season so um so anyway one of the scripture readings that we had uh yesterday was from isaiah chapter 1 verse 18. let me let me read this to you

come now let us reason together says the lord though your sins are like scarlet they are they shall be white as snow and though they are red as crimson they shall be like wool that speaks so much about hope that's speaks so much about hope and salvation and you know if you've been tracking with us you know that we pray for two different things in this country of course we pray for our government that's been our mandate since the very beginning to pray for our leaders and our government but we've also been praying for revival awakening and that the kingdom of god would come to its fullness in canada you know last week um on saturday friday saturday we we launched a

a video pray the word video from our friend tom anderson of winnipeg and he prayed a prayer based on a billion soul harvest that's really when you think of it it's so outrageous it's wonderfully outrageous to prayer of those pray those prayers so this is what i was thinking over the past little while we've been praying for souls we're praying for harvest praying for the church to awaken praying for transformation in our nation what does a revival look like on my street what does that look like not only how what does it look like but how do we get there and this is our prayer in this season this has been my prayer i do a lot of working marilyn and i we do a lot of

prayer walking and we pray walk our streets all the time and we've done this wherever we live we've prayer walked and always looked for opportunities to build relationships and friendships and we're in a new place here we just arrived here in january so we're building relationships here so this advent season we've been saying god give us a strategy give us a prayer strategy for our neighborhood but give us a strategy also how to reach out and care and love our neighbors as ourselves advent christmas time is a great opportunity to share the good news because he's anointed us as it says in isaiah 61 the spirit of the sovereign lord has anointed us to preach good news to the poor

and that includes our neighbors to love them as ourselves you know one of the favorite things that i like to do at christmas time i'm a worship leader and so i love singing and i love caroling i love camping and this is why it's not that i get to sing because singing is lots of fun but i get to go to a house and declare over it words like this no more let sin and sorrow grow nor thorns infest the ground he comes to make his blessings flow far as the curse is found isn't that like those powerful words it's so good to declare that over your neighbor over your friends over your school over your workplace and you know what we have a license to do that in this season so

take full advantage of it i would encourage you so let's pray father i pray that in this season of advent that you would give a strategy as the people of god to pray what your heart is for the nation lord i pray that we would hear what you're saying lord give us strategy on how to love our neighbors as ourself lord the door is open the ground is soft in this season so lord let us not be afraid or ashamed but lord let us move in courage and boldness in jesus name amen well thank you everybody my name is chris byberg the director of the national house of prayer we'll see you next time bye for now
